The President’s Residence is located on a 10-dunam plot of land in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Komemiut (Talbieh). The building, planned by architect Abba Elchanani, was completed in 1971. The President’s Residence consists of reception halls, office, and the President’s residence. All the building’s windows face onto the gardens. The building design employs simple lines with geometric angles and subtly curved forms with a repeating motif. As befits the residence of the President of the State, the building is constructed entirely of local materials: from pink-hued Eilat granite to golden Jerusalem stone. A striking feature of the architecture is the use of exposed concrete, which was common in Israeli architecture in the 1960s and 1970s.
