Yahav – The Story of a Brave Warrior

.On October 7th, Yahav was a rookie in the training phase of the Nahal Reconnaissance Unit

.The moment the events unfolded, he rushed back to the base and took a position to protect the surrounding communities, driven by an unyielding sense of responsibility

Yahav was always deeply connected to the military. He dreamed of becoming a commander and consistently strived to excel. He was the best fighter we ever knew – someone who always set high goals for himself and pursued excellence in everything he did

.During his training, he left mid-course to attend a commanders’ course, where he earned a company-level award of excellence. But in his boundless humility, he never told us about it

.Yahav was endlessly modest, always putting others before himself. That was his greatness – pure, giving, and always wanting the best for others

.On January 13th, during combat in the northern Gaza Strip, in Beit Hanoun, Yahav fell

.The event is still under investigation, but one thing is clear: Yahav feared nothing

.He had a mission in front of him, and nothing could stop him from accomplishing it

.Yahav served as the team’s lead machine gunner, and his comrades trusted him with their lives

.Yahav and I were supposed to leave Gaza together and move to the West Bank in about a week, but that is an experience we’ll never get to share
